Pennsylvania State Trooper First Class Paul G. Richey, 40, was shot and killed in the line of duty when he and another trooper responded to a domestic disturbance call in Cranberry Township, Venango County, at 11:45 am on January 13th, 2010.

Both troopers arrived at the scene when Trooper Richey was struck by a gunshot fired from the front window of the residence by a suspect who was armed with a rifle and awaiting police arrival.

Trooper Richey had served with the Pennsylvania State Police for 16 years. He is survived by his wife (Carrie), son (Connor, 9), and daughter (Catherine, 6).
