Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Samuel S. Hicks, 33, was killed in the line of duty on November 19, 2008, while executing a federal arrest warrant associated with the takedown of a violent drug trafficking organization near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon entering the subject’s house to make the arrest, Special Agent Hicks was shot and killed; the subject was subsequently taken into custody. The planned arrest was the culmination of a year-long investigation involving multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Special Agent Hicks, a Western Pennsylvania native, served as a Baltimore, Maryland, police officer for five years before joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2007.  Sam is survived by his wife, Brooke, and four year old son, Noah.

Members of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Allegheny County Bureau of Corrections are coordinating this year’s Fallen Heroes Golf Tournament to raise proceeds to financially support Special Agent Hicks’ family and Noah’s education fund.

This year’s tournament will be held at Olde Stonewall Golf Club on Saturday, July 16th, 2011 (9:00 AM – Shotgun Start – 4-Man Scramble).  Olde Stonewall is rated Pennsylvania’s #1 public golf course by Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines.  The entry fee for the tournament is $200 which includes 18 holes of golf, on-course beverages, dinner, tournament golf shirt and golf towel, tournament divot tool, and prizes.  Golf carts are equipped with GPS features and an on-board electronic scoreboard.  Player registration begins at 7:00 AM at the Olde Stonewall Clubhouse facility.
